Science
Science is knowledge. Science has been a turning point for so many times and also to so many people. There is something undeniably wonderful about science: it is the only way we can evolve towards a better future. So many useful answers from difficult questions were possible because of science. Research and development play a pivotal role in scientific fields. Every kind of science, from medical to physical, forensic, pure or applied science, each one is important and can promote a huge impact on everyone’s life. The wonders of modern science are blended in the way we think and live, we play with science. I dare say we could not live without it, not anymore; at least based on the recent developments in science and technology, and advances in medical science.
The definition of science is crystal clear: knowledge from the careful study of the structure and behavior of the physical world, especially by watching, measuring, and doing experiments, and the development of theories to describe the results of these activities. After reading and understanding it, how can it be possible that some people insist on denying science? The answer may be: due to lack of understanding, or by simply refusing to see the true. Either way, it could be related to beliefs, religion, ignorance, or difficulty accepting the harsh reality.
People tend to see science as an intruder. It can be in a sense, but a good one, a life-saver, a guide to optimisation, a reasonable explanation well thought and proved based on facts and experiments. Science is not an opinion, but because it is constantly evolving as well as our comprehension, it is always refining itself. People should not be afraid of science, should be open to it instead. Science is mostly concerned about discovering a better and clever way out. It is not a matter of accepting without questioning. It is all about evaluating, testing and contributing with feedback. Science is about interaction, dynamism and improvement. We need to invest more in science if we want to expand the frontiers of what we should not take for granted, if we want to address the tough problems societies are facing. We cannot separate science from the life and concerns of ordinary people.
